In part 1, building
process of the > Starter Kit > Funnel > Guns are described. These processes do not always meet the
procedure defined by DeAGOSTINI Japan. All the contents of the remodeling
were done under my own responsibility. |

This is a set of parts in issue one. I
guess it is almost same one in UK |
|
|
|
A DVD disk was attached in issue one.
In the forum of ModelSpace I have never heard talking about this kind of the annex
from De AGOSTINI UK. I guess it was provided only in Japan In the DVD, 3 movies which are
"The histry of the AKAGI","Introduction of The AKAGI
model" and "How to make the AKAGI model" are included. |
Funnel |

This is a metal part of the funnel tip.
I tried to make the bottom open but in vain, because the metal bottom had a
thickness of 4 mm. |

|
I did not use original photo-eching
parts of the jack stay, because they are too large for 1/250 scale. These slots of the funnel parts were
filled up with putty. |
|
|
|
Jack stay eching-parts for 1/350 war ship
models were attached the funnel. The eching parts is in the market and easy
to get. |
|
|
|
I used surfacer (No.500) not metal
primer. |
|
|
|
After the surfacer setting dry,
'SASEBO' color, which is same color used for the war ship in the Sasebo (佐世保)
dock yard was attached. And The tip part of the funnel was applied flat
black. A Sasebo color air spray is easy to buy
at the model shop. |

|
|
Funnel base is cut down for remodeling.
Funnel base of the Akagi
was branched into 5 roots. |
|
|
|
5 roots were made of wood, and applied
Sasebo color. |
|
|
|
There were truss between the funnel and
flight deck. I made these truss by using Kent. |
|
|
|
And they were applied Sasebo color. |
|
|
|
A boundary part was
made indistinct by using TAMIYA weathering kit "soot". |
|
|
|
Four supports were attached to the
funnel. |
Guns |
|
|
Although I tried to make a tip of the
barrel open as a muzzle with a small drill, it was impossible for me to do
so. Because the barrel was too small and hard. I gave up this method. |
|
|
|
The tip part of the barrel was
exchanged to a metal pipe. |
|
|
|
After attaching and hardening putty to
a aboundary, it was mede smooth with sand paper. |
|
|
|
Supports were exchanged to delta shaped
plastic paper because original parts were too thick. |
|
|
|
As the tips of the barrels are easy to
be broken, guns and shields are fixed so that they may not fall. Attached new
parts are shown in the picture. |

|
The fixed method is
shown in a figure. Guns and shields can be rotated. |
|
|
|
12cm anticraft guns with shields are
completed as shown in this picture. There are opened muzzles at the tips
of the barrels. |

20cm single guns are also completed as
shown this picture. |

|
|
Twin 25mm machine guns were converted.
A thin wire was twisted around a 0.5mm brass bar. The twisted wire is
expressing the radiator. This is a barrel of the machine gun. |

A Bases of the two barrels were made of
plastic panel. The parts of original twin guns were exchanged to the newly
mede guns on the base. |

|
Foot rests were attachied to the base
of the machine guns. |
|
|
|
Two parts
were pasted up. Gunsights were attached. |
|
|
|
They were applied gun
metal. |
